The Alberta Real Estate Association announces Ian Burns will leave his position as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2018. Under his leadership over the past three years, AREA has undergone significant transformation: reducing its annual operating expenses by 20 per cent, restructuring its staff and launching expanded member services.
“We are grateful to Ian for his service to our membership and proud of our accomplishments,” says Bob Jablonski, 2017 AREA President. “As a Board, we have full confidence in the course we have mapped together and in the executive staff team’s ability to execute our strategic vision moving forward."
By unanimous decision of the Board, Brad Mitchell, currently Managing Director, Advocacy and Finance, will step into the CEO role on January 1, 2018. Executive staff team Managing Directors Tammy Williams and Heather Coleman will expand their respective portfolios to accommodate the new structure. Ian Burns will serve in an advisory position into 2018.
The AREA Board and its executive staff team is currently completing its strategic planning cycle, and will share the updated plan with members in January.
