In June of 2019 the Government of Alberta gave notice that planned changes for condominium regulations put together by the previous administration would be paused for review. The Service Alberta Minister Nate Glubish is reviewing the new regulations to ensure they do not cause a significant administrative burden, as well as to hear further from stakeholders.
AREA has been active on this file since its early days and has been invited on behalf of REALTORS® to participate in the Minister’s new round of consultations beginning at the end of August. AREA continues to advocate on limited or no fees for condo documents.
The government appears to be on track for new condominium regulations to come into effect on January 1, 2020.
